UNESCO Sreburna Lake
Located mear the Danube, 16 km west of the town of Silistra. Sreburna is a fresh-water lake extending over an area of 600 hectares that has been declared a biospheric reserve.
About 100 different kinds of migratory birds nest here, including some disappearing ones like the Dalmatian pelican, cormoran, ibis, mute swan, egret and heron. About 21 species of amphibians and reptiles live in the wetland. Special monitors have been installed among the thick reeds for undisturbed wildlife observation.
